As the largest hotel association in America, representing over 32,000 members, more than 3.2 Million room, the Top 10 hotel companies as well as 80% of all franchised properties, the American Hotel & Lodging Association (aka AHLA) is actively involved in advocacy, industry communications, workforce development programs and more.

Kevin Carey joined AHLA nearly 10 years ago and serves as its COO.  He’s also the CEO of the AHLA Foundation.  His COO responsibilities include helping to lead the organization in its various activities across the hospitality sector of travel.

Kevin initially joined us on-air back on the September 21st 2024 broadcast and then joined AHLA CEO Rosanna Maietta during the September 13th 2025 show.  For this check-in on America’s #1 Travel Radio Show, we invited him back to get a first-hand report on their successful “Hotels on The Hill” event that just wrapped-up this week and discuss the happenings on Capitol Hill they just experienced in Washington.  We also got him to weigh-in on the positive impacts the upcoming America’s 250 celebrations and FIFA World Cup will have on the hospitality sector of travel this Summer, we talked about cities like New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Honolulu increasing taxes on travelers, as well as the evolution and implementation of technology across the industry.
